Descended from a family of prominent Armenian musicians, Juilliardtrained pianist Armen Sarkisian brings a love of lyricism and Romanticism to his artistry. Mr. Sarkisian first developed a passion for Russian music at the age of sixteen when he stumbled the music of Nikolai Medtner. Since then, he has committed himself to exploring the vast treasure trove of Russian repertoire and becoming an advocate for Medtner's long-overlooked masterpieces. In a parallel to Medtner, Mr. Sarkisian spent the majority of his young musical career training as a pianist and only at a more mature age began to compose. As a composer, Mr. Sarkisian embraces the musical ideals of the Russian composers he so admires, carefully crafting his music with intricate counterpoint, graceful lyricism, and a robust harmonic language.
