Cello, guitar, clarinet, double-bass and percussion – that’s the music group „Kouglof“! This ensemble has concerned itself for more than ten years with the melancholy and pulse of east European melodies: the yearning, charm and humour of yiddish singers and gypsy fiddlers. Stamping in the crazy time signature of seven eighths and the graceful whirling of Balkan dances shape the rhythms of this music. These are musical oases, the roots of which stretch from Rumania to Iceland or Tibet – sounds and music that come from wherever there’s music being made in the world between concert stage, club and backyard party.
